Prepared by chief Facilitators Laila saein and Anil Emage
We are very happy to let you know that we have celebrated Global Dignity Day 2012 respecting all its values, ideals and vision.
it is our privilege and happiness to partner with Global Shapers Bangalore Hub and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Wayanad this year to organise the event.
On the 16th of October we have visited Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and met the teachers and a small group of very spirited students and from our discussions with them, this year`s theme for Global Dgnity India was unanimously selected as 'Dignity for Universal Oneness' .Besides the regular activities many other programs were also organised.
We started with a brief inaugural session. During the session School Captain Kumari Sreedevi introduced the theme of Dignity and she stressed the need to uphold one`s dignity by sharing human values and contributing towards universal oneness. Global Dignity Day 2012 celebrations were inaugurated by the principal of JNV Ms Shanthy, a very strong supporter of all our initiatives in Wayanad. Eventhough the school was so busy with the closing for Pooja holidays and examinations, she made everything possible for us to conduct the event smoothly. we take this opportunity to thank her and the school on behalf of Global Dignity India and LeadCapAFRC Leadership Village YLP Wayanad.

During the inaugural speech Ms.Shanthy eloquently shared her experience and wisdom with the students about the importance of dignity and how necessary it is to respect each and everything on this planet. After the inauguration on behalf of GDD India we presented her the book Innovation and Leadership, which we do hope will be a valuable addition to the great library of the school.
Dignity stories |
Mr.Benny, the lecturer of English shared his valuable ideas on dignity and inspired the students to lead forward by loving everyone unconditionally. Without his assistance today`s event would not have been a success and we thank him for his kindness. Both of us(Laila and Anil) too shared our Dignity Stories and stressed the importance of taking the pledge of Dignity.
After Ramsheena YLP`s Dignity Story, students of JNV came forward and shared their Dignity Stories which was touching and moving. We have requested the students to be as much creative and free minded as possible and they definitely rose to the occasion. They organised dialogues on Dignity, dramas on Dignity, wrote Dignity Lettters and made paintings with the theme Dignity. At the end of the program we showed the children this year`s promotional video of GD Day and the children cheered as they saw their school represented our nation ever so proudly.
Afternoon we had a special session for the students of plus two who did their best to organise the event.
We started by discussing the need of dignity in our personal life, why we should join hands to strengthen universal oneness and many related subjects. We organised a Dignity Short film exhibition in the computer lab. Students watched the founders of Global dignity, the Dignity song, previous year`s Dignity Day events conducted across the world and in India too.
Then thy sang songs, opened their hearts and told us what they felt about being dignified and we were all happy that we could meet today and became part of a great initiative.
Team Global Dignity India |
In 2011, personall for both of us Dignity Day was an interesting idea to experiment with, but thanks to the incredible work done by Global Dignity Organisation in spreading the message through their website and facebook, we have realised that Dignity indeed is the basis for human relationships, emotions of self respect, compassion, love and brotherhood. Now Dignity has become a passion for us.
