Lead Me Home
Or the story of the lost cat

When we were sitting in front of the laptop I asked Anil: “What should I write? What am I supposed to write?”
“You just think yar, let it come out pal. You may write about our library, life in general”
“Oh, I am thinking…let it be the feelings and thoughts drifting to and forth, right? “
“Ok”
Last day we had a training session in a small Govt. school at the village of Varadoor. After the class we had to walk a lot. With an empty stomach singing, normally people don`t like , but always we like to walk. We immensely enjoy that walking, basking in the hot sun, through paddy fields along the country roads.
Now its reaping time. So the fields are painted golden. We felt the purity of the wind brushing our cheeks. One of our students, one village lass disappeared through the paddy fields like a small bubble. We liked to walk along the bank of the rivulets beside the paddy fields barefooted.
We discussed about life, about the girl , where she will reach in her life, and what is her wishes and her destiny .We sat at the bus stop, in fact a rough bamboo bench, it was, shaded by trees. Unfortunately, the camera was not with us.
One cat was howling around for food, we felt like it was lamenting for something else. The bus stand is located at a junction where three roads lead to three destinations. After searching around, abit of confusion over, the cat walked in the direction of Mananthavady.
“Anil, we have different ways ahead of us. How should we know which is the right path?”
“We don`t know where life will take us. The better thing is lead life before life leads you.”
Our bus to Kalpetta came, spreading dust and destination all around and we jumped in. I looked back for the lost cat.
