- Global Shapers is a youth community established by World Economic Forum that brings together young icons, social activists and entrepreneurs who would help individuals in their community “discover leadership qualities” in them and provide solutions for some of the world’s pressing problems.
Now, GSK (Global Shapers Karnataka) has turned one month, and true to the promises made, its really going pretty smooth. One of the advantages, or disadvantages of leading a nomadic village life is that, you wont always have fast net access. But now we are in a good position to post some pics taken by us during the event. Plus a glance behind the shoulder.
In every sense it was a well planned, well executed event. The most interesting, inspiring and exciting thing about Global Shapers Karnataka launch was that it brought together some of the finest brains India has ever produced under one high tech canopy. And for us, Laila and Anil, we could spend a whole day with a select group of upcountry youth drawn all across Karnataka. We were much impressed by the students` discipline and focus. Getting all the students, a great number nearing 300, was the headache of LeadCapper Muraleedhar, and he did an admirable job.

Of course it was very important for us to tell stories back in Wayanad, so we dished out our new camera. Hope you will love the pics. While one of us jotted away, the other clicked a few pics. There was much to learn. Much much to learn, indeed. For us, back in Leadership Village, one of the biggest problems we face is lack of exposure to leadership events of any sorts, and it must be the reason why Sangeeth was insistent we shouldn't miss the launch. It was so kind of him (as always) to invite us as his 'special guests' which he repeated in a couple of mails. We are glad we went, for it was a reunion with good friends, and was fortunate to share a few words to a couple of Global Shapers who were much eager to know about Leadership Village. Whoever we met promised to keep in touch with, and as usual, through LeadCap, we always get connected to fine human beings.
Why Global Shapers?
We have defined three main objectives for Global Shapers Karnataka. First, to create a platform, where the upcountry youth are given an opportunity to interact and engage with the thought leaders, second, to build a platform, which corporates can use to create opportunities like scholarships and jobs for the upcountry youth and third, to connect established leaders to handhold upcountry youth in fields like entrepreneurship, business, leadership etc.,
GFK, the dynamic leadership movement was organised by LeadCap and hosted by SAP Labs Bangalore

The observation Kris made on the path breaking changes technology brings in the village scenario was extremely interesting for us. For example, when he talked about people in the villages, like a teacher can manage financial needs of nearly 20 or 25 houses, was a true eye opener. The model of correspondents reaching out to houses with financial supports, instead of a rural bank is emerging as a likely model, he added.

Music, Art.....of course!
The tunes are fresh..still, and the hues all vivid. GFK for both of us was another exhilarating great leadership adventure. After three years, we met "our people" at LeadCap and returned to Wayanad, motivated to the core, with hopes reinstated that sooner or later, Leadership Village Wayanad will also witness great events like these.
